Lucy & Schroeder

about

"Lucy & Schroeder" has a long story. We used to play this song live for at least a couple of years as "LHS". We never got to record it even though it was one of the most loved track of the band during the live show. During a recording session our drummer insisted to record it even if it was not plannet to fit on the "Febrero" sessions. Here's it's chance to get a proper place on an album. I choosed to play it using only piano parts and vocals by keeping it as a tribut to the Peanut character, so now it sounds more like Ben Fold Five rather then Belle&Sebastian meet Velvet Underground. The song appeared to me in a dream sang by Apples in Stereo, so it sounded even more electric and jingle-jangle in the oniric original version.

lyrics

Lucy, you see, is fine
Lucy, loonie, be mine

I could talk but my tongue is tied
I could look but you’re out of sight
I should give smooth hands but I’m playing hard

I could smile but you seem so far
I could lie but I won’t back down
I shoud speak my mind but I’d spoil the sound

You told me it’s over
But how’s supposed to be over
How can you claim it’s the end
When romance has never began

You swear that it’s over
the wrong last leaf of the clover
I should stop hang where you stand
It’s YOU that came in my place
